The new plan to expand Chattanooga’s Airport

CHATTANOOGA (WDEF) – A twenty-eight million dollar terminal expansion has been planned for the Chattanooga Airport.

If the plan moves forward, its first phase would add twenty-six thousand square feet.

Three new gates, a new concourse restaurant, and updated restrooms are all included in the plan.

Airport Authority President Terry Hart explains why it’s a good investment for Chattanooga.

“We recognize that the airport plays a role in the economic development of the community. When a new company comes to town, or all the existing ones, they look at what the air service is like out of Chattanooga.”

The plan’s second phase would include four additional gates and a new security checkpoint.

The project is anticipated to take between eighteen and twenty-two months.
