The owner of The Milky Cow is in town
BIRCHWOOD, Tenn. (WDEF) – As the Christmas season quickly approaches, local business owner Alex Frick tells us all about her ice cream sandwiches that make perfect, edible gifts for your loved ones.
If you’re looking for a magical treat to sprinkle into the holiday season, The Milky Cow’s delicious ice cream sandwiches may be just what you’re looking for.
Some of the delicious cookies are layered on top of each other, with beautiful white icing smooshed in the center, topped with chocolate chips or sprinkles.
Others have the icing on the side, so you can dip and mix as you please.
We had the privilege of speaking with The Milky Cow’s business owner, Alex Frick, who is also the baker behind the secret ingredients that make her sandwiches so delicious.
She says, “It’s important to me to have a small business because it puts me out in the community. I’ve created jobs for other teenagers, and I think it shows my kids how important it is. It shows them the work ethic that goes into having your own business. And especially being a woman and being able to start that by myself was awesome.”
As you may have heard the saying, “give wings to dreams,” Alex decided to give her dream wheels!
She turned her local business into the cutest mobile dessert service—on a tricycle!
The tricycle can be booked for local events around the area, including weddings, festivals, and even backyard parties.
Many have asked Alex if she has considered starting a brick-and-mortar location for the business. However, as a wife and a mom of two wonderful children, she says that right now may not be the right time.
“I have considered doing a brick-and-mortar,” Alex says. “But I think right now, just with wanting to spend time with my family and putting my full-time job first, I don’t have immediate plans. But I would love to see The Milky Cow carts across the U.S. I want to start somewhere local, like Nashville or Knoxville, and hopefully get a cart out in those areas.”
As highlighted in the show, The Milky Cow offers a variety of homemade ice cream sandwiches and sweet treats, all completely made from scratch.
Alex said it had always been her dream to create beautiful and tasty creations for others to enjoy.
For a while, she didn’t even know what to call her business, if she had one.
The owner added, “I kept making a list of words that had to do with ice cream and desserts and continued to pair them until I came up with a name that sounded cute and unique.”
So, in April of 2023, with the full support of her family and friends, she launched The Milky Cow and received an unexpected boom in business.
