The Tech Byte Christmas Gift Guide We’ve Built All Year Long

A review of some of the most fun tech we've covered in 2024

CHATTANOOGA, TN –

While most tech shows this time of year are scrambling to make their last-minute gift guides and coming up with all the tech that you might need for Christmas. At Tech Byte, we like to think that we help you make your Christmas wish list year round. With all the tech we cover and the influences that science fiction has had on technology, I’m also having our friend Henry Flood weigh in with some of his favorite tech from 2024. As I write this I am using the Ice Shaker we got from our friend Chris Gronkowski earlier this year. If you need a go to bottle like we’re all carrying I highly recommend them. My wife and I have carried them on all our 2024 adventures and they have been great to keep around.  Also weighing in on our Tech Byte Gift Guide is my friend of over 30 years and owner of Epikos Comics and Games, Henry Flood.

“The Coast Camping Trailer was one of my favorites this year. I love to go camping and the fact that I can have turned everything on. Ready to go. Like I’m still out on the trail doing a hike for the day with my kids and all that. I really like that aspect,” says Henry.  The Coast trailer is about as green as it can be with it’s solar panels and a lightweight body and frame made from mostly recycled materials.  You can live off grid for a number of days in it, and with the smart phone app you can regulate the temperature so it’s nice and comfortable when you get back from your adventures.

One of my favorites was the Mammotion Luba 2 AWD robot lawnmower.  This thing makes my yard look amazing and it was fun to set up.  Using the app to drive the lawnmower around the specified perimeter was like driving an RC car when I was a kid.  Plus I love that I have a lawnmower that looks like the batmobile.  You can get yours here if you have someone to buy for this Christmas.

“Another one that I ordered after the episode airs is this Tap that I keep with me.  I hold my hand one way and it’s a keyboard and the other way it’s a mouse.  I can control my computer, my smart phone and I wonder if one day we’ll have where we can control the touch screen in these news cars,” says Flood. “But I feel like self-driving cars would be it’s own story.”

For me, with porch pirates and theft on the rise I like the Paintball Cam. Srecko Dumanic invented EVE, the first active home security system.  While most cameras are passive and you can only speak thru them, his camera would allow the same warning but also allow you to discharge projectiles at your porch pirate.  He told us initially this would be ready for Santa Claus to bring it down the chimney so hopefully he has units on their way now.

Henry and I had a unanimous number one on our list and that had to be the Dark Saber from Vaders Sabers. I even called Russell at Vader Sabers the other day and he said, you can still get yours in time for Christmas. It does a lot of really cool things that we haven’t figured out all of it yet. You can still change the colors, lights and sounds on your computer and it’s a very well-made piece.  If you’re a cosplayer or collector then we highly recommend giving our friend Russell at Vaders Sabers a call for all your epic light saber needs.
