The Tech Dad Really Wants for Fathers Day
CHATTANOOGA, TN –
Let’s face it, Dad doesn’t want another tie this year and my Dad has more hats than he can wear in a given week.
So let’s take a look at some tech gifts for dad, that won’t end up on a hanger in the closet.
As a photographer, one of my favorite things is to know people show off the photos you send. So our first tech gift for dad is the Skylite digital photo frame. You can find this on Amazon for about $140, but they have similar ones at Best Buy, Electronics Express and B&H Photo. Dad can put his favorite family photos, photos of your adventures together or photos of his kids and grandkids if he has them.
Second on the list is for the Dad that likes to BBQ. I picked up a Meater Pro on Amazon for around $100. It’s a wireless meat thermometer and if your dad likes to bbq as much as I do, then he can make his smoked mac and cheese and keep a watch on the temp while he mows the grass, changes the oil, or watches any game on TV. If you love the art of smoked meats, this is the thermometer for you. I’ve used mine for a little over a year, the app is super easy to navigate and it helps me keep a watch on everything no matter what I’m doing. They come in packs from 1-4 probes so you can watch multiple things and make sure the grille doesn’t get too hot or too cold. If you’re an old school wood smoker like me – meaning you haven’t switched to the easy bake oven – that’s always the challenge so this tech takes some of the stress out of it.
Third on the list is the transcend Drive Pro 250 dash camera. It’s available from B&H Photo for a little under $100. It has lane departure warnings, headlamp warnings, driver fatigue warnings and collision warnings. Not to say you should be worried about Dad but if he has an older car that doesn’t have all these features, this is an easy way for him to upgrade and have some tech to help him out. Also records videos and automatically triggers when it senses a crash.
Last on the list is my personal favorite, the Ray Ban Meta Glasses. Dad may not be a big social media guy but he no doubt has a smart phone. He can take his calls, stream his music, and with AI translate it can help him understand Spanish, French and Italian. Maybe he doesn’t need all that but for his days out walking the dogs or his days on the golf course he can talk hands free or listen to his favorite music or podcast. Plus, they’re a favorite of mine. Also available on Amazon or at your local Verizon retailer.
You still have time to get dad some epic new tech for Father’s Day and I promise he’d rather have that than another tie.
