The worst air quality since 2016
CHATTANOOGA Tenn, (WDEF) – Today a haze covered the skyline of Chattanooga
Claudia Gillman-Acuna, Air Monitor manager, says that you don’t need to hide indoors but certain people should take precautions.
She says that “right now the air quality which is a combination of ozone and particulate matter for the Chattanooga area, basically it’s above the 151 mark which makes it unhealthy. People that do have respiratory conditions especially older communities and the younger ones. Remain indoors for the most part, especially if you’ve been experiencing sore throat and cough the last couple of days.”
If you are going out the Air pollution Control Bureau suggests “for people who like to go out fishing or jogging, make it a shorter amount of time if you still got to go out, or just try to bring your activities indoors,” says Gillman-Acuna.

Gillman-Acuna says “You can visit our website apcb.org and you can also visit the EPA website called air now, and you can look at the map for fire and smoke and it will tell you if we have a big cloud over our area, you’ll be able to tell the air quality as well.
