This little light of mine

CHATTANOOGA, Tennessee (WDEF)-This weekend’s events of remembering the life of Ed Johnson and the injustice of his death also was meant to show a light of hope.

Represented in a song nearly everyone knows.

This little light of mine, a song sang by many at one time or another. It was being sung at the Ed Johnson memorial to remember the day he was Lynched

Willie Kitchens Jr says he chose this song so people could join in the singing and the message the song would bring.

“Share that there is a light. So hopefully that song helps spark that light in us to shine,” said Kitchens.

Donivan Brown said when Kitchens sings people just want to join in.

“There’s a way in which Willie Kitchen sings. There’s a warms in the tone of his voice in a very inviting town. It was a delightful way in which one is complicated emotions because we’re being cognizant of the death, the lynching of one man. The plight of his two attorneys I thought that light was a bright moment and a cold challenging day with the weather on the cusp of spring,” said Brown.
