Three arrested after police chase and reported homicide

Update: Chattanooga, TN (WDEF)- Chattanooga Police charge 17-year-old Javonte Davis and 20-year-old Gary Toney Jr. with First Degree Murder.

Police found Robert Rutledge dead inside his apartment, and three suspects stole the victim’s white Dodge.

Officials say the three suspects fled the scene after stabbing the victim.

They found bloody clothing, a knife, and mail belonging to the homicide victim at Toney Jr.’s house.

They are both being held without bond.

Chattanooga Police arrest three suspects after officers were shot at during a police chase.

"Earlier this afternoon a community member called about a crime scene on 404 Tunnel Blvd," says Chief Fletcher, "Chattanooga Police Officers responded to a believed homicide. The initial investigation of that crime scene led us to believe that a vehicle belonging to the victim was taken as well."

Detective Lucas Fuller was behind a white truck in an unmarked car, when three suspects, one female and two males, in the truck fired weapons at him. Fuller was unharmed during the shooting.

Two individuals that were uninvolved in the incident were shot. They were taken to Erlanger Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries.

After an hour and several officers dispatched to the location, the white truck crashed into a ditch on Monterey Dr. The female remained unconscious inside the vehicle, while the two males pursued on foot with weapons.

Chattanooga Police say the female is a minor and her name cannot be released.

Javonte Davis and Gary Toney were arrested after officers caught them near Dee Road.

Chattanooga Police are still investigating the reported homicide.
