Three juveniles arrested after pursuit and carjacking incident
CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (WDEF) — Chattanooga Police (CPD) arrested three juveniles after a pursuit and carjacking incident.
CPD responded to a car jacking incident November 2, 2024, at 5:50 p.m.
Officers were dispatched to the 1000 block of Belmeade Avenue.
While enroute, officers were notified of the victim’s license plate and vehicle description.
An officer on patrol near Shallowford Road and Moss Street spotted the vehicle.
CPD reported the officer attempted to conduct a traffic stop, but the vehicle failed to stop and attempted to evade officers.
Officers then proceeded to initiate a pursuit.
The driver proceeded to turned on Holtzclaw Avenue, where they were met with a moving train.
The driver attempted to drive on the sidewalk, but then crashed into a ditch.
An occupant of the vehicle stepped out with a handgun in his hand.
A CPD officer ended up firing his handgun, but no injuries were reported.
Three suspects were detained after the incident.
After several units from CPD investigated the incident, information revealed the victim was 59 years old.
She was sitting in her vehicle in the 100 block of Belmeade Avenue.
While sitting in her vehicle, the three suspects approached and one pointed a gun at her.
The suspect proceeded to tell her to get out of the vehicle.
In fear of her life, she followed their demands.
All three suspects were juveniles, one 17-year-old and two 15-year-olds.
They were transported to the Hamilton County Juvenile Detention Center.
All three are being charged with carjacking.
CPD says this remains an ongoing investigation.
