EAST RIDGE, Tenn. (WDEF) – Three suspects who committed an armed robbery in East Ridge didn’t get far, thanks to the quick actions of CPD K9 Sully and Neighborhood Policing Officers.

On March 20, around 8:00 p.m., three teenagers robbed a convenience store in East Ridge and fired shots at the store clerk, who was thankfully not hit.

The suspects fled the scene in a vehicle, entering Chattanooga, where a CPD Neighborhood Policing Officer spotted them speeding through the Ridgedale neighborhood.

The driver attempted to evade the officer but became trapped at a dead end, where all three suspects fled on foot.

One 18-year-old suspect was caught shortly after when the officer—faster than the suspect anticipated—chased him down.

Additional officers responded and quickly set up a perimeter.

K9 Sully and his handler arrived soon after and tracked down the remaining two suspects, ages 13 and 14.

All three suspects have been charged by East Ridge Police with attempted murder, aggravated robbery, and other offenses.

The Chattanooga Police Department also filed additional charges for evading arrest and reckless endangerment.

K9 Sully once again proved the vital role canines play in law enforcement, doing excellent work in swiftly locating and helping apprehend suspects.
