Through Irish Eyes: Willies Georgia Burger Shack

DALTON, GA, (WDEF)-Hungry mouths travel for Willies food from across the South.

They come to the window and through the drive through for burgers, hot dogs and fish.

But how can a small burger joint in North Georgia outsell most of it’s major competitors every single week.

Willie Pagan,"50% increase in our sales in the last 6 months and it’s been easy and remarkable and we still don’t understand how it works".

Willie has owned his burger shack for 9 years but social media is now putting him on the regional map.

"Everybody that loves us, all our 25,000 fans and we appreciate everyone and take care of you, soon to expand into Tennessee, looking to open another shop in Chattanooga pretty soon, that is the beginning of the expansion".

Entrepreneurial and business gurus are impressed by the use of social and digital media and marketing.

John Boitnott, Marketing and Business Guru,"It’s definitely not surprising that small independent restaurants are turning away from traditional advertising to social media, whether it is Google, Yahoo or Facbook, among others, small businesses have been able to garner interest from people in their communities who are no longer pay much attention to billboards, newspapers obviously millennials play a big part of that trend".

But what makes the food so good?

"It’s fresh the bread is fresh from the bakery, the avocados, it’s just good".
"Willies is the place to be it’s good for you".

One man drove past dozens of restaurants in Chattanooga to come to Dalton to eat at Willies.

"Second time i have ever eaten here, first time i came i had fish sandwich combo, it was the best fish sandwich i ever had in my life, it was great".

The Facebook posts attracts thousands of people and they keep coming.

I put my trust in my Irish friend Mike Reilly to give me an accurate opinion.

"Delicious" says Reilly.

10 pounds heavier but very happy in Dalton Irish Eyes Reporting.
