Thursday Throwback: 2005 State of Dade

For almost a hundred years, we had a foreign country right here on our back porch.

At least that’s the legend.

The story is that tiny Dade County, Georgia succeeded from the Union before the rest of the state and never came back in after the Civil War.

In fact, it took a Presidential telegram to bring them back.

Twenty years ago, we investigated how much of the legend was real.
