Iconic country music festival returns this summer after a 26 year break
FORT PAYNE, Alabama (WDEF) – After a 26 year break, the June Jam is back in northeast Alabama.
Tickets go on sale online today for the return of the country music festival set for the DeKalb County Fairgrounds on Saturday, June 3rd. Prices start at $50 (plus fees).
So far, the only act announced will is for host group Alabama.
The other acts should be announced in the coming weeks.
Randy Owen and Teddy Gentry announced the return of June Jam when fellow band member and cousin, Jeff Cook, died late last year.
The hometown concert grew in stature along with the band.
It ran from 1983 to 1997 and drew the top acts of the day.
Former performers include Garth Brooks, Willie Nelson, The Judds and Dolly Parton.
The concert was always a fundraiser for the band’s hometown charities.
Owen hopes the city will continue that tradition after the group is gone.
There has not been an announcement yet if the concert will return after this year.
