Police say ex-husband drove from Atlanta to Chicago to kill her and himself

CHICAGO, Illinois (WDEF) – A Chattanooga native with a national reputation has been killed in a murder/suicide case in Chicago.

29 year old Sania Khan was a professional wedding photographer here.

She had developed a following on Instagram and TikTok for her work.

But after he marriage ended with a man from the Atlanta area, she had just moved to Chicago to start over.

Police say her ex, Raheel Ahmad, told his family that he was driving to Chicago to save his marriage.

But when the family and friends could not reach either of them, they called police.

Police went to the apartment on Monday and found that he had shot her to death and then turned the gun on himself.

On June 14, Sania posted a video with the caption “The first few months of any divorce journey are the darkest. It’s full of anxiety, sleepless nights, wondering if you’re doing the right thing, thinking Allah abandoned you, and feeling hopeless.”

A GoFundMe campaign has already tripled the goal asked to cover her funeral expenses.

“This fundraiser will be disbursed to Sania’s grieving mother and will be spent on arranging the funeral, coordinating transportation, and providing assistance to the family as needed.”

Sania went to  the Chattanooga School for the Arts and Sciences and worked at Signal Centers.s.”
