Tim James Steps Down as East Ridge Football Coach

East Ridge, TN-(WDEF-TV) East Ridge coach Tim James is leaving his football home for a new opportunity.
He’s stepping down as the Pioneers head coach to take over as the athletic director for the Hamilton County school system.

Had to be a tough decision for James. His roots run deep at East Ridge. He played and coached there, and the football stadium is named for his father. James says those close to him encouraged him to apply for the Hamilton County A.D. job. After 30 years of coaching, James says it was time for a change, and he believes this job is another step forward in his career.

Said James:”Everywhere I’ve been, I’ve kind of liked to build things, from starting the program at Loftis Middle School then going to Heritage in Ringgold and starting that program from scratch and coming back home to East Ridge and the new stands and the field house and the weight room and everything. I just see this as an expanded opportunity to help more kids have the facilities and the opportunities equally across the board.”
