Titans Jurrell Casey Still Plans to Kneel During National Anthem

Tennessee Titans defensive end Jurrell Casey says he plans on protesting the U.S. anthem and will pay the fines despite the NFL’s new rule designed to cut down on protests. “I’m going to take a fine this year, why not?” Casey said Wednesday, per CNN’s Motez Bishara. “I’m going to protest during the flag. That’s what I’m going to say now.”

NFL owners announced a new national anthem policy in the off-season, which mandates players and team personnel must stand during the anthem if they’re present on the sideline. Those who don’t want to stand can remain in the locker room.

Teams could be fined for players or staff kneeling during the anthem, and NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell also has the right to issue discipline.
