Traffic stop in Murray County leads to drug bust and arrest

MURRAY COUNTY, Ga. (WDEF) — A routine traffic stop turned into a major drug bust Friday after a months-long investigation into illegal drug activity in the area.

Narcotics investigators and patrol officers with the Murray County Sheriff’s Office (MCSO) pulled over a vehicle Friday, June 13, 2025, as part of an ongoing surveillance operation.

The traffic stop took place in a part of the county where several residents had recently filed complaints about suspected drug-related activity.

MCSO said the driver, identified as Timothy Hagan of Chatsworth, was taken into custody.

Investigators say they found 8.1 ounces of methamphetamine, one gram of cocaine, a Schedule IV drug, a firearm, drug-related objects, and about $1,500 in cash inside the vehicle.

Hagan now faces multiple felony charges, including:

  • Trafficking Methamphetamine
  • Possession of Methamphetamine with Intent to Distribute
  • Possession of Methamphetamine
  • Possession of Cocaine
  • Possession of a Schedule IV Drug
  • Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon
  • Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Crime
  • Possession of Drug-Related Objects
