Train derailment in DeKalb County, AL

DEKALB COUNTY, Ala. (WDEF) – The DeKalb County EMA has confirmed that there was a derailment near County Road 761 in Valley Head.

The derailment involved 5-10 rail cars from a Norfolk Southern train that was carrying grain.

Crews and emergency personnel are currently on scene managing the incident.

The DeKalb County Board of Education confirms that Valley Head School is not in danger and operations will have minimal impact.
