Train hits car on tracks

Hamilton County, TN (WDEF) – No one was injured Monday night when a car got stuck on the train tracks at Bill Jones Road and Apison Pike and was hit by a train.

Hamilton County Sheriff’s officials say a white Ford Crown Victoria got stuck after accidentally running off the road.

The female driver was helped out and to safety by another driver.

Officials immediately notified the railroad about the stuck car, but the message wasn’t able to be relayed to the inbound train fast enough.

It hit the car; causing extensive damage.

The train wasn’t carrying any hazardous materials, just coal.

The track will be closed while authorities check the track and remove debris.
