Tree service crane falls onto house in Middle Valley

CHATTANOOGA (WDEF) – It has happened again.

A crane belonging to a tree trimming service has fallen onto a condo in the Jackson Square subdivision.

The subdivison is off East Boy Scout Road, just three blocks away from Hixson Pike in Middle Valley.

The crane operated by Big Woody’s Tree Service fell over around 2PM.

It gouged a cut from the roof into a second story room, but no one was hurt.

Fire officials called in a larger crane to remove the smaller one.

Last February, another tree service crane flipped onto a couple of homes on Barton Avenue in North Chattanooga.

That one was operated by Chattanooga Tree Services.

Both of the homes were temporarily condemned because of the damage, but no one was hurt there, either.

Still, it is a dangerous business.

A year and a half ago, another Big Woody’s employee was killed when he fell while cutting trees along a bluff on Signal Mountain.

He ended up falling 150 feet.
