Trenton man arrested for trafficking fentanyl in Alabama
DEKALB COUNTY, Ala. (WDEF) — DeKalb County deputies arrested a Trenton, Georgia man for trafficking fentanyl on Monday. This followed an attempted traffic stop and police chase.
A deputy attempted the traffic stop on a white Chevrolet truck on Monday, April 29 at around 10 a.m. This was near Alabama Highway 75 and County Road 140 in Ider, Alabama.
The vehicle did not stop and fled from authorities. Authorities said several units responded and stopped the vehicle on Sulphur Springs on County Road 512.
The sheriff’s office identified the suspect as 47-year-old Charles Kevin Wooten. The passenger was also identified as 33-year-old Shiann Sorrells of Valley Head, Alabama.
Wooten faces the following charges.
- Resisting arrest
- Unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia
- Attempting to elude
- Trafficking any illegal drug
- Reckless endangerment
Wooten was already on parole in Georgia, but that has now been revoked.
Additionally, Sorrells faces the following charges.
- Using false ID to obstruct justice
- Failure to appear (x4)
Sheriff Nick Welden made the following statement on this incident.
“I’m glad this pursuit ended without someone getting hurt and a drug dealer has been put behind bars. When someone is being reckless and showing no regard to others safety, there is no other place for them other than behind bars. A huge thanks to all that assisted in the apprehension of this fleeing drug dealer, DCSO Deputies, Investigators and Mentone PD. Working together goes a long way and puts the criminals away! Both suspects were booked into the DeKalb County Detention Center.
