Trial for man charged in fatal 2023 Frazier Avenue crash rescheduled for next year
CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (WDEF)- A new trial date has been selected for the man charged in a tragic incident on the Chattanooga Northshore.
Randy Vega is charged with two counts of vehicular homicide and driving under the influence among other charges in a fatal 20-22 crash on Frazier Avenue.
That crash, according to evidence presented in a preliminary hearing, occurred when Vega collided with Dr. Patrick McGinty, and crashed into a gift shop.
Ana Posso Rodriguez and her one year old son Jonathan Delvia, who were visiting from Florida during that Thanksgiving holiday weekend, were killed when they were struck.
Monday, Vega’s defense attorney, Mike Little, updated Hamilton County Judge Boyd Patterson on their ongoing problems to secure an expert witness for that trial.
He said, “The last time (we met) we were waiting for a final decision by the Chief Justice. The final decision, the request is denied.”
Vega’s trial was rescheduled for June 2026.
