Trump is no Politician—But he could win against Hillary!

Donald Trump is a billionaire, and a public figure.
He’s never held elective office.
He’s known for saying whatever he thinks with a lack of diplomacy.
Those qualities seem to have endeared him to many voters, especially in the south.
In part 2 of our look at the GOP race, we hear from people who spend their time studying such things.

AMANDA WINTERSIECK, PH.D, UTC POLITICAL SCIENCE DEPT. “Rubio did well in the markets we expected him to do well in, urban educated markets. Cruz and Trump did well in rural, less educated or evangelical parts of the region.”

Professor Amanda Wintersieck knows who’s voting for whom, and why. But no one is placing any bets on who will be the Republican presidential candidate. So far, the New York billionaire has defied definition.

KRISTOPHER ERSKINE, PH.D, SOUTHERN ADVENTIST UNIVERSITY “Here’s this person who’s not a politician. He comes into Tennessee, he comes into the south, and he’s not really authentically, as I said, a religious…he comes in and kind of steam rolls everybody, How’s he able to do that, and basically it seems people are not voting with their faith.”

MARK WEST, PRESIDENT, CHATTANOOGA TEA PARTY “This man is a democrat with nice republican clothes on and a nice republican label.”

Mark West is a Ted Cruz supporter, who believes there’s still a chance against Trump.

MARK WEST, CRUZ SUPPORTER “So far in all of the votes that have been cast, Trump has only gotten 34% of the votes.”

Millennials are going to help decide the eventual winner.

KRISTOPHER ERSKINE “Generally I’m picking up that most of my students are not supporting either Bernie Sanders or Donald Trump, or Ted Cruz for that matter.”

West says Trump is like a leopard trying to change huis spots.

MARK WEST “A man who’s been a democrat all his life, his values and policies are like Hillary Clinton…there’s no difference between Trump and Hillary on so many issues.”

But, the question remains–can Trump be stopped?

KRISTOPHER ERSKINE “If he’s able to transform himself into someone that is more diplomatic, if he runs against ..perhaps Hillary, if he runs against Hillary, he could win. He could win.”
