TV Tuesday: Code Black Preview & News on the Fall Season
Does TV need another hospital show?
CBS will find out this fall.
Their entry is the new drama "Code Black."
Medical shows usually focus on the private side of doctors and nurses.
But Code Black will find drama from its name.
A Code Black situation occurs when the E-R gets more patients than it has resources to handle.
The show is about that chaos.
Star Marcia Gay Harden calls it "drama, documentary fashion."
Code Black uses actual trauma nurses and over 600 extras to show that teaming emergency room.
The cast went through a medical boot camp where they had to learn the talk and keep the hectic shift schedules.
You can feel the chaos in this First Look.
"Code Black" will premiere on Sept. 30 at 10 pm on CBS.
It will air on Wednesday nights against Nashville and Chicago P.D.
Duckie, meet Ducky.
We still don’t know if the two actors with the duck-nicknames will actually share screen time on NCIS this fall, but wouldn’t it be grand?
Jon Cryer is guesting as the surgeon who helps to put Mark Harmon back together after he was shot at the end of last season.
Kids know him from Two and a Half Men, but their moms remember him as Duckie from Pretty in Pink.
Cryer tells Entertainment Weekly that he always wanted to show up as a corpse on NCIS (where he definitely would have meant Ducky), but the producers came up with a beefier role.
Gibbs recovery will also put a strain on the NCIS team, particularly Tony who has to step up while the boss is out.
NCIS returns Sept. 22 at 8/7c on CBS.
Oh, and just because they can, take a look at 14 Lessons for Getting Ahead at Work, from the cast of NCIS
Peter Pan is coming to Supergirl.
Now that sounds like a mind-bending episode, but it’s not THAT weird!
The young actor who plays Pan in the upcoming movie has signed on for a role on the new CBS show.
Levi Miller arrives in the fourth episode for a recurring role, playing the son of Cat Grant, Supergirl’s boss.
In the press release, they say "It will be fun for audiences, who we all know will fall in love with him as Peter in PAN on Oct. 9, to see his range with his turn as Calista Flockhart’s American son."Supergirl premieres on CBS on Oct. 26, hopefully just weeks after Pan makes Miller a young star.
Will this fall mark the beginning of the end for TV’s most popular sitcom?
In the season 9 premiere, they have a wedding to deal with.. or do they?
But even though the show is booked for another 2 seasons, the cast can see the end of the road.
Which is why Kunal Nayyar says this season had a different tone when the reported to work.
Once again, The Big Bang Theory returns to Mondays on September 21 at 8 p.m., before returning to Thursday night after CBS Football.
