TVA offers advice to save on energy bills
CHATTANOOGA (WDEF) — Both the heat and energy costs are quickly rising here in the Tennessee Valley.
However, there are ways to keep your energy bill down amid inflation.
The TVA’s Scott Fiedler recommends turning up your thermostat just a couple of degrees, as each one saves about 3%.
He also says to close up curtains on the south side of your home to reflect heat and keep it cool.
“Mother Nature brought summer to the Tennessee Valley pretty early this year and we don’t want your wallet to get scorched like as hot as it is outside,” Fiedler said. “So we want you to save money on energy and also help conserve. That helps the system out, plus it helps keep money where it belongs — in your pocket.”
Fielder also says to utilize fans as much as possible.
When cooking, if you can’t grill outside and have to stay indoors, he recommends using the microwave over the stove or oven.
