TVFCU gives back to local school organization

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (WDEF) — Students in Hamilton County Schools are getting some support from the Tennessee Valley Federal Credit Union (TVFCU).

The Credit Union presented Students Taking a Right Stand (STARS) with the proceeds from the 21st annual Benefit Golf Tournament.

TVFCU President and CEO Todd Fortner presented STARS Executive Director Karen Glenn with the check for more than $48,000.

“STARS does such great work in our school system and we’re proud to be a sponsor with them,” said Fortner.

STARS works with students, teachers, and staff in Hamilton county schools to equip students to become productive citizens.

“We do an alternative for full suspension for students that are suspended for challenging behavior and this just strengthens what we do in our school climate efforts so it’s an incredible support and we are so grateful to the Tennessee Valley Federal Credit Union for choosing us the beneficiaries of these much needed funds,” Glenn said.

This year’s golf tournament was held at Black Creek Country Club on October 2nd.
