TVFCU help Scouts achieve Eagle merit badge

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (WDEF) – Tennessee Valley Federal Credit Union made a donation to the Boy Scouts of America Cherokee Council.

The credit union partnered with local boy scout troops to help the scouts earn their personal finance badge.

That’s one of the badges required to reach Eagle Scout.

The boys learned about I.R.A.s and how to manage their money.

Credit Union officials say those are skills that will help them or the rest of their lives.

Jack Elliot with Boy Scout troop 30 said, “I just want to thank Tennessee Valley Federal Credit Union for providing such a great class and giving kids the opportunity to learn and finish a really difficult merit badge.”

This year 68 boys participated in the class.

That means TVFCU donated $3,400 on their behalf.

TVFCU and the Boy Scouts have teamed up like this for the past four years.
