Two arrested in Hamilton County for stealing car from Georgia

HAMILTON COUNTY, Tenn. (WDEF) — The Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office has arrested two people after finding a stolen car on Monday.

They are charging Lindsey Myers and James Cowan with possession of a stolen vehicle and possession of drug paraphernalia.

According to the sheriff’s office, a school resource deputy at Normal Park Museum Magnet School was returning to campus after being in court. That is when his automatic license plate reader alerted him of a stolen car.

Authorities confirmed the car was stolen out of Georgia, leading to Myers’ and Cowan’s arrests.

Cowan also had several active warrants for his arrest in Georgia. Those warrants were for probation violation, criminal trespassing and theft.

The sheriff’s office is also charging Cowan with criminal impersonation.

Deputies booked Cowan and Myers into the Hamilton County Jail.
