Two arrests made after pair of aggravated assaults
DALTON, Georgia (WDEF) — On Sunday, Dalton Police arrested 28 year old Quentrell Shropshire and 34 year old Jonathan Sutton after a two aggravated assaults.
Dalton Police say the first incident occurred on December 11th, 2016 at Sutton’s residence on Beirut Place. Sutton told investigators that Shropshire beat Sutton with a gun that belonged to Sutton and then beat Sutton’s girlfriend, Cassie Pedigo, with it as well. Police say Shropshire then stole the couple’s car, which was found abandoned two days later.
Dalton Police say Shropshire was arrested on charges of armed robbery, two counts of aggravated assault, and one count of aggravated battery and false imprisonment.
The second incident occurred early Sunday afternoon. Dalton Police say officers responded to Elm Street and Matilda Street for reports of shots fired. Officials say witnesses directed officers to a vehicle turning around in a parking lot. According to police, Pedigo and Sutton were in that vehicle and that Sutton had a handgun. Dalton Police say witnesses told officers Sutton was chasing a man later identified as Shropshire on foot while firing a gun at him. Officers located Shropshire a short time later.
Dalton Police say Sutton was arrested on charges of aggravated assault, reckless conduct, discharging a firearm near a public street, discharging a firearm on the property of another, and possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony.
Dalton Police are still investigation and say other charges are possible.
