Two people in Walker County charged with aggravated animal cruelty
WALKER COUNTY, Ga. (WDEF) — Two people are facing animal cruelty charges in Walker County.
Authorities responded to The Animal Medical Center of Fort Oglethorpe (AMCFO) after receiving an alert from staff about a potential cruelty case.
Anthony Griggs and Crystal Branch brought their dog in to be euthanized on Monday, March 17, 2025.
Staff reported to authorities that the dog was emaciated was unable to walk due to severe malnourishment.
According to Walker County, staff also told officers they observed signs of neglect throughout the dog including long fingernails, sores, and wounds.
Animal Control Manager, Tyler Bishop, stated Griggs and Branch told the vets that the dog wouldn’t eat and started losing weight about five-months ago.
The two also stated she had not been seen by a vet prior to being taken in to be euthanized.
Walker County stated another dog inside the couple’s home had no signs of neglect.
Both were arrested and have been charged with Aggravated Animal Cruelty.
AMCFO is trying to raise money to find the dog, Roxy, a rescue home.
Roxy will require around the clock care.
