Two shot at Brainerd Road gas station

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (WDEF) —  Two people were shot at a gas station on Brainerd Road this afternoon.

The Chattanooga Police Department (CPD) said shortly after noon, they received a shots fired call at the Hop-In Gas Station across from Barger Academy.

When they arrived on scene they found two people with gunshot wounds.

They say one of those injured has life threatening injuries, and both victims were taken to the hospital.

Police say they have detained multiple people while they investigate the incident.

“It’s still early in the investigation, so the investigators are currently working through that, and as you see now, they’re on the scene here.  After that, they have to go back to the Service Center and work through multiple different things before we know exactly what happened, so they’re trying to work through those circumstances to find out what happened and report what information we have.”

-Sergeant Victor Miller, Public Information Officer for the Chattanooga Police Department

CPD says they believe there is no active threat to the community related to this shooting.

According to Hamilton County Schools, out of an abundance of caution, Barger Elementary was placed on a Secure due to police activity in the area.

The school lifted the Secure shortly after and resumed normal operations.
