Two Superior Creek Lodge buildings condemned; hundreds put out

UPDATE: Hundreds found themselves homeless after two East Ridge buildings were condemned Wednesday night.

East Ridge officials say they got a complaint about structural issues at the Superior Creek Lodge.

The Fire Marshal and Building Inspector investigated and found that two buildings were no longer safe to live in.

That decision forced both the "A" and "C" buildings to be condemned and forced hundreds of residents out in the pouring rain.

East Ridge Fire Chief and Interim City Manager Mike Williams says, "They are not happy, but they are very cooperative, and I think people understand our concern. Our concern is their welfare, number one. That’s why we were here."

The Salvation Army has been on scene all night to provide social service information and to pray with the displaced residents.
