Two Teenagers Rescued After Being Reported Missing on a Hike
The 16 year old and 18 year old were reported missing Saturday night when the parents of the 16 year old called 9-1-1.
They reported their daughter was missing and did not return from her hike at the Picket Wilderness Trails.
Mowbray Volunteer Fire Department responded to the scene.
Sequoyah Volunteer Fire Department, Dallas Bay Volunteer Fire Department, Walden’s Ridge Emergency Services and Chattanooga-Hamilton County Rescue responded to the Pocket Wilderness to assist Tennessee State Parks and Mowbray Volunteer Fire Department. Rescue personnel reported they searched the trails throughout the night.
They were found at the Hog Skin Branch Area about 4 miles from the parking lot area.
Rescue personnel checked the two teenagers vital signs and reported no medical attention was needed.
According to the fire officials the two teenagers got lost while hiking and when it became dark they decided to find shelter and wait for daylight to find their way back to the parking lot.
Names of the teenagers are not being released.
