TWRA to preview 2024-2025 hunting, trapping recommendations
NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WDEF) — The Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency (TWRA) will preview recommendations for the 2024-2025 hunting and trapping seasons soon.
It will make these recommendations at the Tennessee Fish and Wildlife Commission meeting on March 21-22. The meeting will take place at Buffalo Ridge Refuge in Humphrey’s County. Thursday’s meeting will begin at 1 p.m. and Friday’s meeting will begin at 9 a.m.
The TWRA will propose changes to Wildlife Management Areas and the furbearer season. It will also present proposals for the Take of Raptors for Falconry and Migratory Game Bird Seasons and big game harvest summaries.
Additionally, the TWRA will propose season changes and recommendations for the new deer and turkey management units and season dates.
The commission will then vote on these proposals during a meeting on April 18-19 in Johnson City.
TWRA will present an update on the Buffalo Ridge Shooting Range project and the future education facility. They will also present a report on the Stones River Shooting Range renovation proposal.
The TWRA will present Giles County Wildlife Officer Ryne Goats with the 2023 Tennessee Wildlife Officer of the Year award as well.
The Tennessee Wildlife Federation will also present updates on the Tennessee Scholastic Clay Target Program, along with the Hunting and Fishing Academy.
“The meeting will be the first for Jimmy Granbery (Nashville) as TFWC 2024-25 Chairman. Other officers elected during the February meeting were Vice Chairman Chris Devaney (Lookout Mountain) and Secretary Greg Davenport (Brentwood),” the TWRA added.
