U.S. Chemical Safety Board investigating fatality at TS USA
CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (WDEF) — The U.S. Chemical Safety Board (CSB) is investigating the recent fatality at the TS USA facility in Chattanooga.
CSB investigators arrived at the facility on Wednesday. They have been documenting the incident site and interviewing facility employees.
The fatal fire happened last Thursday, May 30 at TS USA, which is a liquid nitriding facility located downtown.
The person who died suffered severe burns, according to the CSB.
The President appoints CSB board members who are confirmed by the Senate.
CSB said its board does not issue citations or fines. It makes safety recommendations to companies, industry organizations, labor groups and regulatory agencies, such as OSHA and EPA.
