CHATTOOGA COUNTY, Ga. (WDEF) — The U.S. Forestry service is working a wildfire on Taylor’s Ridge in Chattooga County.

The Chattooga County Commissioner’s Office first notified the public of the fire on Tuesday, November 14. At that point in time, the fire was only three acres. Officials said the U.S. Forestry was establishing a fire break.

As of about 5 p.m. on Wednesday, the Commissioner’s Office said the fire had grown to 11.5 acres.

They warned that the public will likely see smoke and burning.

“They have a hand line around it and are reinforcing the lines,” the Commissioner’s Office said.

Additionally, the Forestry’s helicopter dropped water on hot spots throughout the day on Wednesday.

Chattooga County EMA reminds the public they are under a burn ban until December 3.
