Unarmed security guard sexually assaulted at Atlanta library

ATLANTA (AP) – Authorities say a female security guard at an Atlanta library was sexually assaulted while scissors were held to her throat.

News outlets cite an Atlanta police report that says the suspect hid in downtown’s Central Library until the building closed Sunday night before sneaking up on the unarmed guard and trying to force her to perform oral sex. The report says she was able to run away when he told her to pull down her pants.

Atlanta police Officer Stephanie Brown says the suspect chased the victim, but fled when he saw two men outside. He remains at large.

Fulton County police said in a statement that they met with the county’s contract security provider to review protocols and guard training. An armed guard has been added during library hours.
