UnifiEd Hosts Education Summit
A new organization called UnifiEd wants to start a movement in support of public education.
They looked at data collected by the organization involving specific districts and schools.
Then they had a panel discussion made up of a principal, a parent, a teacher, and a student to dig deep into the issues.
Lakweshia Ewing, with UnifiEd said improving our schools needs to be a community effort.
"The fact that the schools with students who achieve higher on standardized tests and as well in the classroom tend to have a community support than is you know second to none, whereas those who have limited community engagement tend to not do so well. It takes everyone to make Hamilton county the best public education system that we can," said Ewing.
UnifiED will be holding other summits in the next few weeks.
They include:
September 30 at 6:00 PM at Brainard High School
October 14 at 6:00 PM at Red Bank High School
October 28 at 6:00 PM at Soddy Daisy High School
