Union Gospel Mission Holds Labor Day BBQ Dinner
CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (WDEF) – The Union Gospel Mission continued an annual Labor Day tradition today.
They held their 9th annual Labor Day Barbecue fundraiser in front of the Maple Street Biscuit Company on Gunbarrel Road.
They cooked enough food for 600 people and gave it away for free.
They did ask those who stopped by to donate to their mission of helping homeless men in our area, as last year they raised a record $15,000.
Jon Rector, the executive director for the Union Gospel Mission, said, “The community has been great. Folks have been very generous. We’ll have, especially in this area, some of the local homeless population stop by and get a meal which is great, but it’s more than made up for by those who generously give and share and support our work.”
If you weren’t able to make it out to their fundraiser, the Union Gospel Mission takes donations online.
