Union Gospel Mission provides Thanksgiving meals

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (WDEF) – With Thanksgiving being tomorrow, organizations around town are making sure everyone has access to a warm meal.

The Union Gospel Mission came together this afternoon to host and serve warm Thanksgiving dinners to those who may have to go without one tomorrow.

Individuals were invited to the front lawn of the Bessie Smith Cultural Center to sit, eat, gather needed supplies, and have a good time with neighbors.

With the season of giving at the afternoon event, volunteers also joined in on the event to assist in any way that they could.

One young business owner, Natalie Talley, continued to show and make her impact on the community. Natalie started a business selling flowers and baked goods as a way to help those in need and even raised and donated $100 to the Union Gospel Mission to aid in the cause.

With next year being the 75th anniversary of the Union Gospel Mission, they continue to strive to impact the lives of Chattanooga’s homeless and less fortunate. Since 1950, the Mission has provided over 2.5 million meals, over 1.6 million safe night sleeps, clothing, household goods, and many other benefits.

The organization is always looking for donations with the holidays and colder weather beginning to roll in.
