Upcoming construction prompts Chattanooga road closures
CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (WDEF) — The Chattanooga Department of Transportation released a list of upcoming street closures.
These closures are the result of upcoming construction projects.

700 MOCS ALUMNI DRIVE
The work scheduled to begin today on Mocs Alumni Drive has been canceled. An announcement will be made when new dates are scheduled.
7548 IGOU GAP ROAD
Crews working within Igou Gap Road during today’s scheduled sewer project struck a water main. An emergency closure of Igou Gap Road in the 7500 block is in place overnight effective immediately. An announcement will be made when regular construction restarts and the road will reopen during the evening hours.
2608 OAK STREET
A lane closure and lane shift will occur on Oak Street near the intersection of Greenwood Drive beginning Monday, June 17th through Friday, June 21st to repair a sewer main. Traffic will be maintained in both directions, drivers are asked to use caution and slow down within the work area.
1307 BROAD STREET
The right, southbound lane of Broad Street between W 13th Street and W Main Street will be closed beginning Monday, June 17th through Friday, July 19th to facilitate the rebuilding of the curb and sidewalk at the new Food City site.
700 MOCS ALUMNI DRIVE
Mocs Alumni Drive will be fully closed east of Douglas Street from Monday, June 17th through Wednesday, June 26th from 8:30 AM until 4 PM daily to install underground high voltage electrical lines. Traffic will detour via Douglas Street, McCallie Ave, and Palmetto Street.
7548 IGOU GRAP ROAD
Igou Gap Road will be fully closed near Igou Crossing Drive from Monday, June 17th through Friday, July 5th from 8:30 AM until 4 PM daily to install new sewer connections. Traffic will detour via Gray Road, Jenkins Road, E Brainerd Road, and Gunbarrel Road.
7301 SHALLOWFORD ROAD
The right, westbound lane of Shallowford Road near Napier Road will be closed from Monday, June 17th through Thursday, July 18th to install the new hotel entrance.
E 10TH STREET
E 10th Street between Foster Street and Douglas Street will be closed on Tuesday, June 18th for the dedication of EPB’s 10th Street Mural. Traffic will detour via E 11th Street.
RIVER STREET
River Street between Renaissance Park and Coolidge Park (behind Bridgeview Apartments) will be closed Wednesday, June 19th from 7 AM until 10 AM for a crane lift installing new HVAC units. Traffic will detour via Frazier Ave and Cherokee Blvd.
