CONSTRUCTION CLOSURES – MAJOR TRAFFIC IMPACT

Cummings Highway at Railroad Overpass (St Elmo)

Cummings Highway near the intersection of Broad Street / St Elmo Ave / W 37th Street closes today, Monday, June 3rd through Wednesday, June 5th from 8 AM until 4 PM daily for railroad bridge repairs. Detours will be routed through St Elmo via Old Wauhatchie Pike, Church Street, and W 38th Street. We strongly encourage thru traffic to utilize I-24 during this time.  Should any incidents occur on the interstate that cause substantial traffic delays, the contractor will open the worksite to thru traffic to alleviate the backup.

Wilcox Blvd Bridge

The Wilcox Blvd Bridge between Holtzclaw Ave and Amnicola Hwy will fully close Tuesday, June 4th at 8 AM and reopen Wednesday, June 5th at 4 PM to conduct inspections, repair existing divots/potholes, and resurface one of the approaches. E 3rd Street should be utilized as the primary detour route. Wilder Street is available as a detour for vehicles with no more than 2 axles (weight restricted).

OTHER CONSTRUCTION CLOSURES

Oak Ridge Drive at Ashland Terrace

Oak Ridge Drive at the intersection of Ashland Terrace is closed starting today, Monday, June 3rd through Friday, June 7th for a sewer main repair.  Accompanying the full closure of Oak Ridge Drive, the lanes of Ashland Terrace westbound will be shifted to the center lanes. Please use caution in the area and watch for work crews.

736 Broad Street

The northbound lanes of Broad Street between 7th Street and 6th Street will be closed Wednesday, June 5th at 10 PM until Thursday, June 6th at 6 AM for a crane lift. Please utilize Market Street or Chestnut Street as primary detours.
