Upcoming road closures around Chattanooga

Road closures will take place March 3 through March 5

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (WDEF) — The Chattanooga Women’s Suffrage March and the Erlanger Chattanooga Marathon are coming up soon. Due to these events, there will be several road closures around Chattanooga.

Chattanooga Women’s Suffrage March

The Chattanooga Women’s Suffrage March will take place on March 3. The following roads will be closed from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. for the march.

  • Southbound Lookout Street, between E 6th Street and Georgia Avenue.
  • The southbound, right lane of Georgia Avenue, between E 6th Street and E MLK Boulevard.
  • E 7th Street, E 8th Street, Walnut Street and Cherry Street will have brief closures as the march passes through.

The Chattanooga Police Department will be on-site assisting traffic.


Erlanger Chattanooga Marathon

The Erlanger Chattanooga Marathon will take place Saturday, March 4 through Sunday, March 5.

Saturday, the Classic 150 5K Race will last from 9 a.m. until 10 a.m. The start and finish will be at Finley Stadium.

The Kid’s Fun Run will take place Saturday from 11 a.m. until 12 p.m., and will start and finish at Finley Stadium.

The Erlanger Chattanooga Marathon and Half Marathon will start Sunday at 7:30 a.m. Road closures Sunday are expected until 3 p.m.

However, there will be road closures on Friday, March 3 as the marathon is being set up. Those are as follows.

  • Reggie White Boulevard, between W 19th Street and the Chattanooga Skate Park, will be closed from 6 a.m. Friday until 5 p.m. Sunday.

The Chattanooga Department of Transportation said the highest traffic impact and closures are expected Saturday between 9 a.m. and noon, and Sunday between 7:30 a.m. and 2 p.m.

High impact areas include Market and Main Street, E MLK Boulevard, Riverfront Parkway and Lindsay Street, Market and 20th Street, and Bailey and N Holtzclaw Avenue.
