Update for 2 alarm fire on MLK Boulevard overnight

CHATTANOOGA (WDEF) – Chattanooga Fire officials say two buildings were damaged in the fire that began before midnight.

Both buildings were vacant.

The former Half Note Lounge building at 500 East ML King suffered a $155,000 loss to the building and contents.

The building next door at 506 E. ML King (the former Whole Note) was spared fire damage but did suffer water damage.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.

Flames were already visible at the Half Note building when fire fighters arrived last night.

Smoke was drifting into the nearby Douglas Heights housing for UTC students.

Police made sure those buildings were ventilated to make sure the fire did not spread there.

No one was injured in the blaze.
