Update from Humane Educational Society on Arkansas rescue dogs

CHATTANOOGA (HES)- On August 2nd at 5pm 11 dogs rescued from a house of hell in Arkansas completed their freedom ride and arrived at the Humane Educational Society. These innocent animals have been forced to live in cramped cages unable to move and left to sit in their own feces with out food and water for days at a time. Many are suffering from mange and heart worms. All of the dogs are malnourished and suffering from hair loss and urine burn. These forsaken animals have never received medical care or positive human interaction.

The difficult task of rehabilitating these precious animals began as soon as they arrived at the shelter. Due to neglect and isolation, these dogs have never known the outside world; they will have to learn simple tasks such as walking up and down stairs, on tile floors, and to trust people. Staff and volunteers will spend countless hours teaching them how to be dogs again. Currently, no invasive procedures can be performed on the animals as we work to help them build trust. However, many are receiving antibiotics for urinary tract infections, daily medicine baths for mange and once they are accustomed to human interaction will begin treatment for heartworms. The public is invited to come to our shelter and meet these special dogs as it will aid in their recovery process and help them find loving forever homes when they are ready to be adopted.

HES does not budget for high intake cases and the county does not attribute funding for these purposes so we need your help to assist these dogs and help them put their tragic pasts behind them.

Please consider making a donation to our Special Needs Fund so we can continue to meet the medical and social needs of these innocent animals. With your help we can continue this important work and give these dogs the second chance they so deserve in a loving home and safe environment. You can be a force for good and help these dogs find peace and experience love for the first time with new forever families.
