Update on People Burned in House Fire Wednesday Night

Chattanooga (WDEF) – Chattanooga Fire officials say that three people burned in a house fire last night have been transferred to a burn center.

The fire happened at a home at 2405 Kirby Avenue around 11:30PM.

There were four people in the house and all suffered burns.

When they arrived at the hospital, doctors determined that three of them were in worse shape than first thought.

They were sent early this morning to Westar Cobb Hospital in Austell, Georgia, which has a new burn unit.

One of the three women in the home told firefighters that a smoke alarm woke her up and she woke up the others.

Fire officials describe the home as a halfway house.

They say they have been called to the location five times since last October.

Two firefighters also received minor injuries putting out the fire.
