UPDATE: Police arrest suspect in deadly shooting in East Chattanooga

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (WDEF) — Chattanooga Police have released more information on Tuesday evening’s shooting in East Chattanooga.

Police say 24-year-old Jamichael Eddins and 28-year-old Randall Davenport both suffered gunshot wounds.

Chattanooga Police say Eddins died from his injuries before police arrived and Davenport was taken to a local hospital.

Police say Davenport has been treated and released.

Chattanooga Police identified the suspect as 26-year-old Christopher Turner.

According to police, Turner and the victims were in a verbal disorder that escalated.

Investigators were able to identify the suspect and his vehicle. Chattanooga Police conducted a traffic stop on the suspect’s vehicle on North Holtzclaw Avenue shortly after midnight and took the suspect into custody without incident.

Chattanooga Police say Turner is charged with Criminal Homicide, Reckless Endangerment, Possession of a Firearm During Commission of a Felony, and two counts of Aggravated Assault.


CHATTANOOGA (WDEF) – Chattanooga Police are investigating another deadly shooting in East Chattanooga.

This time, it happened around 5:30 on Carousel Road, a neighborhood off of Wilcox Boulevard.

Two people were shot outside a home.

One has died and the other sent to the hospital with life-threatening injuries.

A neighbor told us he saw someone fleeing through his backyard after the shots were fired.

“The investigation is still in its preliminary stages. We don’t know how or why, what happened, but we are learning that as we are out here,” Chattanooga Police Officer Rob Simmons said.
