Urban League of Chattanooga hosts “Money Talks” summit

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (WDEF) – Urban League of Chattanooga hosted their Money Talks business summit Thursday.

The Urban League is a nonprofit organization devoted to empowering local African Americans and other underserved individuals who are entering the economic and social mainstream.

The event featured an open panel sharing a roadmap to sustaining a good business.

Representatives from Uncle Larry’s Restaurant, Chambers Welding and The Collective by Epiphany spoke at the summit.

Individuals were able to learn, network and more.

“The fact that we are able to bring in experts to speak about topics around financial preparedness for your business as well as how to speak to a banker to get money. It’s very important for small businesses right now,” said Lya Kimbrough with the Urban League of Chattanooga.

The Urban League also gave away up to $10,000 dollars in grants at their pitch competition.
