Used Car Night Still a Huge Hit For Chattanooga Lookouts

Chattanooga-(WDEF-TV) The Chattanooga Lookouts are teaming up once again with Tennessee Valley Federal Credit Union Saturday for Used Car Night.
A few lucky fans will actually win a used car.
The team has easily given away over a hundred vehicles because this used car deal has been around for a staggering 33 years.
In the words of Jim Nantz.
It’s a tradition unlike any other.

You can’t beat the Lookouts Used Car Night.
Gotta be one of the longest running promotions ever for a minor league baseball team.
Said Lookouts General Manager Rich Mozingo:”This is a very difficult promotion to pull together. The idea that it has lasted thirty-plus years is stunning to me. We couldn’t go out as the Chattanooga Lookouts and knock on doors and get this many cars. It takes someone like Tennessee Valley Federal Credit Union and our partnership with them to make this whole team happen.”
Mozingo admits there are some sweet rides cruising AT&T Field.
Said Mozingo:”I have made a couple of offers to people on the spot for cars they have just won and been turned down all the time. But there was an old Cadillac with big fins in the back. It was in the past ten years. It was just spectacular. There’s always a great car or two that come through the line.”
Used car night even proved to be romantic for one local celebrity.
Said Mozingo:”James Howard talks about going to Engel Stadium. Buying a ticket on Used Car Night. He wins a used car. Then the next day goes out and sells the used car. Goes straight to the jeweler. To the jewelry store. Buys his soon to be fiance an engagement ring to get married with the money from the car that he won at Used Car Night. I think that’s one of my very favorites.”
Cha-Ching!
The Lookouts feel the love on used car night with sold-out crowds, which is rare for August games.
Said Mozingo:”We go over five-thousand people every single time we have this one, and this year is going to be no different. It’s fun to win a car. If you win a car, it’s a huge event.”
