UTC Women Advance to SoCon Title Game After Beating Furman 63-55
(gomocs.com)– The No. 2 seed Chattanooga Mocs women’s basketball is back in the Southern Conference Tournament title game for the third-straight season following a 63-55 victory over No. 6 Furman in the semifinal round on Friday afternoon inside the Harrah’s Cherokee Center – Asheville.
With the win, Chattanooga (16-13) heads back to the SoCon Tournament title game for the 21st time in program history and eighth time since 2013. The Mocs will face top-seeded UNCG on Sunday, March 9, with tip-off set for Noon ET on ESPNU.

INSIDE THE BOX – Chattanooga 63, Furman 55
- A pair of Karsen Murphy threes and a 7-of-12 (58.3%) shooting start from the team allowed Chattanooga to grab an early 16-13 lead at the end of the first quarter.
- A mix of cold shooting and a combined seven turnovers saw both teams go point-for-point (11-11) in the second frame as the Mocs held a slight 27-24 halftime edge.
- Chattanooga went just 5-of-15 (33.3%) from the floor in the third quarter but held Furman scoreless for a four-plus minute stretch to claim a 39-33 edge heading into the fourth.
- Back-to-back threes from Sigrun Olafsdottir and Murphy helped UTC build a double-digit lead, 45-34 (7:52), before the Mocs held off a brief Paladins run to secure the 63-55 victory.
