Vehicle thefts linked to a TikTok challenge
HUNTSVILLE, Alabama (WDEF) – Investigators are blaming a string of stolen cars in a TikTok video.
Three Kia vehicles were stolen overnight in a subdivision in the Hazel Green community north of Huntsville.
They were driven within two miles and then abandoned.
The Madison County Sheriff’s Office believes the thefts are connected to the Kia Challenge or Kia Boyz trend on social media.
They target Kia models that can be easily operated without a key.
They say the thieves broke out windows and damaged the steering columns and ignition system to start them.
Investigators released video of one of the thefts on Monday.
